Recurring Zoom Sessions

Problem

The Zoom Webinar & Events team aims to drive adoption and revenue by converting Zoom Webinar users to Zoom Events. However, the lack of key features—such as recurring sessions—and premium pricing present significant challenges to this transition.

Solution

Launched Zoom Sessions, a mid-tier product positioned between Zoom Webinars and Zoom Events. It delivers an enhanced experience over Zoom Webinars at a significantly lower cost than Zoom Events.

Business problem

Why (1).png

How might we...

How might we convert Zoom Webinar users to Zoom Events?"

But customers think Zoom Events license is too expensive...

Then, how might we design a mid-tier product between Zoom Webinar and Zoom Events that's both affordable and valuable?"

The current Zoom Sessions product already allows webinar organizers to run one-time webinars,

but it lacks support for recurring sessions.

How might we design a streamlined flow that improves organizers' experience with recurring webinars and increase revenue?”

Problems

  • When I invite speakers to recurring webinars, they are invited to all sessions.

  • When I edit a recurring webinar session, I can only edit the description and date/time.

  • Zoom Webinars lacks a content hub, requiring manual image uploads for each session.

Goal

Run recurring webinars to showcase Zoom Workplace & attract potential customers.

Solution

  • Assign speakers to specific sessions and display them on the session details page.

  • Customize each webinar session’s content, including cover images and descriptions.

  • Enable saved images in the content hub for reuse in future sessions.

Problems

  • When I register for webinar sessions, I’m unsure of the topics covered in each session.

  • I don’t know who the speakers are for each session.

  • If I miss a session or if I want to re-watch, there’s no way to access the recording.

Goal

Learn from Zoom's webinar sessions to decide if Zoom Workplace is right for my company.

Solution

  • View details like title, description, and speakers for each session.

  • Allow attendees to easily join in-progress sessions and view upcoming ones.

  • Allow attendees to view the recording, if available.

Problem 1

Organizers cannot set unique title and description for each session.

Problems 2 & 3

Organizers can configure occurrence schedules and manage attendee registration options.

But, they cannot assign speakers or add visuals, such as cover images, for each session.

  • Title, description, and image.

  • Speaker information, including name, title, and bio.

iterations 3.png

Iterations of attendee experience registering recurring sessions

Iteration 1

Select sessions to register for from the sticky right-side card

Pros

The sticky card makes the registration action prominent and easily accessible.

Cons

The sticky card's limited height prevents attendees from viewing many sessions at once.

Iteration 2

Select sessions to register from a list view

Pros

Browse and register for sessions easily in a list view to improve discoverability.

Cons

Hard to quickly understand page content. Speakers card view is unbalanced with the sessions list above.
